Sustainable Development Policy for GSB to become Social Bank

For the Board of directors, executives, employees and staffs of the Government Savings Bank to adopt a sustainable development approach to be used as part of management unite for excellence aiming for of the organization altogether. Therefore, the sustainable development policy has been set up as “Government Savings Bank Creates a Pink World” under the context that responds to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) covering 3 areas; economy, society and environment as follows:

Economic dimension

  1. Being a bank that supports the recovery of the Thai economy.
  2. Conduct business in accordance with good governance, transparency and fairness in order to develop potential and work efficiency for quality leading to strength of the organization in a sustainable manner.
  3. Avoid any operations possibly causing conflicts of interest, against all forms of corruption.
  4. Respond to government policies, for the people, for the economy of Thailand.
  5. Be a savings institution as a source of funds to support development country to the government.
  6. Solve poverty and elevate the quality of life of the people at the grassroots level to be strong, taking into account children, youth, the elderly and the underprivileged.
  7. Promote savings and create financial discipline.
  8. Promote the development of the local economy and SMEs.
  9. Support innovation development.
  10. Provide channel for receiving complaints from customers and respond to complaints.
  11. Conduct business with responsibility to stakeholders.
  12. Promote financial literacy and access to fund sources.

Social dimension

  1. Conduct business and comply with human rights requirements according to international standards.
  2. Grant rights to communities affected by business operations to participate in commenting.
  3. Promote and support community and social development.
  4. Build relationships with communities and society.
  5. Encourage the participation of people in the community by using local wisdom, emphasizing joint thinking, doing and taking care of one another.
  6. Promote good deeds, morality and ethics.
  7. Support education and youth potential development.
  8. Develop and present products and services to create a good society.
  9. Work for public benefit and charity.
  10. Have policies and work processes that are aware of safety and occupational health.
  11. Provide fair compensation and benefits to staffs/employees, both monetary and non-monetary.

Environmental dimension

  1. Promote, support and carry out creative activities for society and environment by adhering to the philosophy of sufficiency economy.
  2. Create and promote awareness of caring and preserving the environment.
  3. Implement policies to reduce the use of resources, reduce waste and reduce the impact on the environment (ECO-Efficiency).
  4. Raise awareness for customers to see the importance of using products / services that take into account society and the environment.
  5. Support the investment and give credit that takes into account the impact of society and environment.

The Government Savings Bank has set a goal to become a “Social Bank” completely by focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2 main aspects; SDG 1 No poverty and SDG 10 to reduce social inequality.

Environment
• Consider granting credit to businesses that take into account the impact on the environment.
• Provide loans to environmentally friendly projects without negative impact on the community
• For example, Soft Loan provided to small entrepreneurs, etc.

Social
• Give importance to access to financial services and providing financial knowledge to Foundation customers or people in remote areas
• For example, financial literacy projects, loans to resolve informal debt, loans as an expense for those affected from the corona virus (COVID-19), etc.

Governance
• Promote operations under the principles of good governance and conduct business with transparency.
• For example, do not support operations that cause conflict of interest against all forms of corruption, organized weekly activities to promote good governance anti-corruption, etc.
